  • WHICH LPG SYSTEM?

    I've been checking out various LPG systems for a few months and am more confused now than at the start.

    SPRINT ... TARTARINI ... IMPCO ???

    I would appreciate any advice from those who have GAS :shock: , especially the direct injection systems.

    Also, do you know of a good installer in South East Queensland?

    I used the Car Clinc at Nundah (Oct 07)(based on others advice),they have been fitting LPG Kits for 20 years.I found some very inexperienced mechanic's flogging the LPG installs,which is a worry.

    They offer a free loan car for the three days it takes for the fitting.
    I get 15.5L/100K on LPG around Brisbane (13/100 on petrol)
    I do not notice any change in power on LPG.
    The Car Clinc insist that you use Caltex or Vital Gas Only as all the others LPG is crap.
    They offer three years or 100,000Klm warranty on the their premium system.

        By the way Wattsy, what series prado did convert ... i probably should be able to remember from your other posts :roll: :?: And what system system did u have installed?

          Both Sprint and Tartarini Injected Systems are good ones.

          I would call the distributor for each and ask them which installers
          do the recommend in your area for their systems. The tend to know
          who are the good/best guys are

            I have a Manual 2003 120series.
            The Car Clinc build their own Direct Injection Systems up from different Manufacture's Parts. I went for their Premium System whic cost $4,500.00.The Standard System cost about $4,100.00 and $3,850.00 for the Budget (back in Oct' 07)
            The LPG tank sits a little lower than the rear Petrol (Manchester LPG tank fitted),but not much.I fitted a set of King Springs (Standard +20mm) on the rear (bottom of rim to guard now 795mm) and haven't had a problem off road.
            My best advice would be make sure the LPG installer has a min. 10years experience and can offer references.

              Thanks guys, I've spoken with Andrew from Autogascarclinic and also the Sprint Gas people $4,800 for a conversion in Toowoomba, including FlashLube and new Plugs ... Its not just the raw cost I have the problem with, its whether there is genuine positive ROI over a reasonable length of time ... we'll see, i'll probably procrastinate for a bit longer.
