1GR-FE - engine exchange in Perth (or head repairs)

have a cracked head on my 1GR-FE - have not looked into it too thoroughly (too hard basket at the moment) but understand the heads should be replaced if cracked (rather than welded) and that being the case might be cheaper to just do an engine swap -
does anyone know of an engine exchange in Perth that has the Prado 4 litre?

It might be cheaper to ring a engine reco shop and see if they can get you a cylinder head instead of a second hand motor. The motor will be second hand, come with a 3/6 month warranty, but you don't know how many k's it's done or what life it's had. Speaking from first hand experience, it really sucks when you got to do everything again 'if' your new/secondhand motor blows up. Get it done properly first time and you won't have to worry about it. But get it diagnosed properly first or you may have just wasted serious $$$ for a $2 fix so to speak.

we did it to a KZ moter 9mths ago and hasnt leaked a drop since
it has given him the time to save up for the repairs, ( for when it leaks again !!)( but they say its a permanent fix

Hey Bill, Sorry to hear about this trouble, what a bloody nuisance. Just curious, as I would like to avoid similar issues, what were the circumstances that lead to the cracked head? overheating? (I see you are Darwin based), mileage? Coolant leak?
