LPG Conversions
I have been reading this forum for some time; having come across it during my search for a good used prado. Its been a really enjoyable and informative journey. My thanks to the moderators.
After trying a number of Govt auctions, finally bought a 2005 V6 auto from a private local seller.
The next decision is whether or not LPG? I have read numerous discussions on this topic, but not much about 4L Prados on gas. Any and all advice would be welcome. Especially would be interested in personal experience. thanks

LPG Conversions
OK, will do.
Initial indications are that the cost will be around $2300 AFTER the rebate ... or $4300 upfront. If LPG prices are rising as you suggest in another thread ... will have to look a lot more closely into this one.
On the positive side, with the US heading into recession, the flow-on effects could result in reduced demand for oil and then to lower petrol prices.2005 4L V6 5sp Auto GXL. Not much gear!

correct me if I am wrong (& I am sure that you will) but the cost of 98+ is about 10% dearer to purchase which to me would indicate that you would have to travel 10% further. To me you are are on the loosing end re- cost.
Diesel's fall into the same category, fuel cost against economy, power (sorry torque) & maintenance cost which is not a great deal dearer, long term.
I still think the diesel will end up in front

Personally I am not going to get into your argument as its taking this thread Off Topic.
I know my figures and I have compared both on a weekly basis. As this is an LPG/Petrol thread lets please keep it to that to avoid yet another thread going wayward.
If you want to start a Petrol vs Diesel debate feel free to start another thread. But please re-familiarise yourself with this thread first.

There IS already topics on your particular subject and maybe its better re-opening one of them if you want more discussion on it.
Most of it has already been covered.
Unfortunately a lot of my and other's original posts seem to have dissapeared  so some threads may not make a lot of sense.....

Hello HappyP
Can't help with your question as i don't run on LPG, but I would be interested to hear how you are finding LPG? Especially how your fuel consumption on LPG compares to petrol and any other benefits or problems you might have ... apart from the whine. That one sounds strange. Could it be related to a drop in pressure as the tank lowers, affecting the air/gas mix :?

I've always had LPG cars and I love the economy and the fact that it's friendlier to the environment. The government contribution (3k) was also a deciding factor because this conversion cost over 5k.
I notice a small drop in power/torque compared to petrol and the tank sits a bit lower. In hindsight I should have gone for a flatter tank (doughnut) instead of a cylinder.
Economy ~300km on a 60l tank + a little petrol to start + a little flash lube (valve saver)

Was thinking of lpg conversion, but after reading some things in this thread I'm starting to think otherwise.
Anyone had a good trouble free experience with lpg ?
Been told by 2 installers that the new systems dont lose any power.
Is this true ?
Currently getting 15l per 100k around town in 120 series v6 auto .
What figures should you get with conversion ?
Anybody got figures with lpg ?
