Waterproofing the V6 petrol motor

Hi,

I have had a snorkel installed and I will be tackling the breather extensions over the christmas break. So the next thing to be tackled is what comes next with regard to waterproofing the prado. What needs more protection then the good folk at Toyota gave it?

What have people done? How deep have you safely waded and for how far? Any tales of victory or woe that people want to share?

Hey Will,

I Live in Tom Price (Pilbara region of WA) and have some awesome water crossings through Karijini NP. I have had it upto the top of the wheels with out any drama's, this was before I had a Snorkel fitted. I think alot depends on your approach speed!!!! I always hit water as slow as I possibly can Especially with the Petrol. Hope that helps some.

Thanks for your 2 cents. I guess that there is not much that needs doing with regard to working on the electrics for the Prado.

A few years ago I drove through western creek in my "Rio" diesel prado with the water over the bonnet with no ill effects, but i didn't know what the petrol motors were like.
