I have had a new 120 series GXL for a month & a neighbour also has a relatively new GXL.
We were discussing the duel fuel tanks over the weekend. He was concerned about fuel becoming "stale" in his aux tank if he topped up his tanks regularly. We bought our vehicles as different dealerships in separate cities and he was told by his dealer that the vehicle uses the main tank first & then the aux. His concern was that if he never uses his aux tank the fuel could become stale.
When I took delivery of mine the Dealership very clearly told me that the fuel cannot become stale as the fuel is effectively used from both tanks. I understand that the fuel pump is from the main tank and they said that the fuel does come from the aux tank also (I gather that it must transfer automatically to the main tank somehow). They said that when I have used approx 90 litres the guage will be about 1/2 & then the 90 Lt light will come on - the guage will then show "full" & will then go down as the last 90 litres are used. They said that about the 1/2 way mark some fuel has been used from both tanks.
Can anyone enlighten me how the system really works - as the 2 Dealerships are giving different stories.
Thanks, Willy
