Second Row Seat Removal

Another newbie question from a soon to be Prado owner....

a) are the second row seats removable? or just tumble fold type. I have been known to sleep in the car on the odd occasion when on fishing trips (Tassie Highlands weather gets too cold in a tent for my liking) In my current Rav4 i take out the passenger side rear seat (leave it at home) slide the passenger seat all the way forward and I can sort of roll my swag out and get a good night's sleep. I am just wondering if I will be able to do similar with a Prado?

b) if they DO come out how much stuffing around is it to get them in and out?

Do a search - there is a thread with photos. It takes about 10 mins- just gently lever the plastic covers off and all bolts [ 4 per seat from memory] will be revealed. Neil

Hi, I have a 2009 120 Series and removal of seats takes no time at all. A simple click of a lever and they pop out. Takes longer to put them inside the house than to remove them

Daz are you sure you are not talking about the 3rd row of seats in the cargo space?

Never seen a 120 that the 2nd row of seats removes with a lever as Neil advised there are bolts to remove for the 2nd row.

During campfire discussion, over the Easter break, I was told that removing the 2nd row seats was illegal in Queensland. This would make your vehicle unroadworthy and they will book you.

Not sure if this is true or not but the information seemed to be genuine.

Thanks for the info guys...was thinking that would be the case.

As far as searching goes, the forum search is cactus obviously, I have been using Google with the "Subject: www.pradopoint.com" - (ie seat removal:www.pradopoint.com) search and still not getting anything much, is there something I am missing?

Mum and Dad pull their 2nd row seats out of their 120 all the time. Toyota did it for them the first time and now they do it themselves for the long trips.

Had to pick up a glass cabinet today and didn't fancy putting it up on the roof racks. 1800mm long. Did a quick PP search, found this thread and within about 5 minutes the driver's side middle row was unbolted and on the garage floor. Problem solved 1800mm+ length would fit now!
