  • Brake controllers

Hi Folks, a newbie here , need advice or a recommended brake controller .I have researhed online reviews on the hayman reece cs5900 and cs 5300 and also the redarc and p3 prodigy but i need straight from the horses mouth as reviews can be touchy. Also is it advisable to have a caravan or boat so you know what weight you are towing. I am looking at about 2200 kg any info from expierence like yourselves would be great .

Go the Prodigy. If you check out the caravan forums you will find that the majority recommend the Prodigy.

I have the redarc brake controller installed on the prado and works fine. also had one on a 99 pajero previously and no dramas. The remote head one is good (got one put on my mums car so she could tow her van) easy to use

Hi, I am looking at changing the Tekonsha Voyager for a Prodigy P3 in my 2009 120 series.
Does anyone know if the wiring harness from the P3 will plug into the same connector that the Voyager uses on the Prado?

Just for info the wire colours are the same in both Break controllers. I was able to purchase another connector to plug into the existing car wiring.
                Job done.

From an installation perspective, the Prodigy will fit into the ashtray slot in a 120 without any modification. Looks good, secure, out of the way but easily accessible if you need to override. I have been using mine when towing a 2 tonne tandem axle caravan for a couple of years now. Works a treat.

                  Cheers
