No after market radiators

Took a trip to Natrad Saturday morning to get a new radiator installed (making sure alls well for the trip to the GTG) after ordering one last week. When they opened the box the radiaror was differant to whats in the car,it matched what was listed in there catalouge, but it had a filler neck and radiator cap but mine has no cap and a header tank. They told my they would get one in Monday or Tuesday for me. Spoke to them this afternoon and told you can't get the same radiator except from Toyota. Turns out it is a Denso item, which is what they got in for me,but Denso have not released them for sale except for at Toyota.Apparantly Natrad are negotiating with Denso at the moment and will be availably after christmas from Natrad.Ebay price for the wrong one is $280,same one from radiator shop approx $390 Toyota $980 for genuine one

ive had the same problem there is a radiator place in lee street maitland , they built a custom full alloy 1 for me that included and external oil cooler for a $1000 might be worth giving them a try

Is there a reason you need a whole new radiator? I would have thought that geting a new core and changing the tanks wouldn't be a problem, radiator manufacturers can make cores to any size and header tank size fairly easily.

the reason i had a complete radiator made and replaced was to do away with the plastic tanks ,as my core was buggared, and also to replace the core and use the existing tanks, or replce the whole radiator with a new 1 with plastic tanks actually worked out dearer than the custom made 1 .

hey quicky i got an aftermarket through wallsend automotive cost me about $400, (i installed myself) it also had external cap, all you do is put a blanking cap on and just like the normal toyota radiator, but half as cheap. cheers samo

New radiator should be here tomorrow.I went with the toyota one as the car is at toyota getting other work done and the cost is similar to what digger spent on his custom one.It's a pain running back and forward to workshops so get it done while its there.
Andrew the option of a reco one wasn't bought up as I don't think they rebuild many with plastic tanks these days,like every thing else there a throw away item

My father when he was alive repaired radiators for 20 odd years, he actually developed; and I made around 50 odd jigs for removing and replacing plastic tanks from radiators, that were sold to people all over Australia, that was 15 years ago though I guess, but I would have thought that they could still be repaired. Anyway you have a new one for the GTG so all is good.
