06 Prado roof rails

G'day all, I have an 06 GXL and want roof rails to match the Grande model. Have rang a heap of wreckers yet can not get my hands on a set. Does anyone have any advice.

I bought these puppies brand new from Toyota. Cost me $1800 all up. that's all the nuts, bolts, covers, bars, everything at trade price. They're not cheap but bloody hell that make the Prado look unreal especially with the rear spoiler couldn't be happier.

I would've bought these rails from JapanParts but didn't think to check first (silly me). None the less, still worth every cent.

I bought a set of the copies off ebay, $179 delivered. Not too bad, does the job. You get what you pay for but I couldn't justify buying the genuines. They look pretty good though.

I bought a set off eBay, look great, handled the foxwing fine, handled moving mattresses around, very useful when washing the roof!

I loaded more and more stuff on the roof progressively through the gtg and combined with offroading it got too much for them and the centre strut on one side snapped. Held on until I got home but have since retired them.

Roof basket may have helped to spread the load but ultimately I put more on than they could handle. If you just want form rather than function they are great at less than 20% of cost of genuine ones!

Get genuine cross bars which sit on top though,those ones that are inside the rails are pointless.
