  • Retractor motor for the outer rear view mirror for my '05 Prado 120 Grande

    Hi,

Can any member veriify whether the Toyota part RETRACTOR, OUTER MIRROR, LH (p/n 87966‑6A210), which is a part of the complete outer rearview mirror assembly actually includes the retractor motor (which retracts/unfolds the mirror when the applicable button in the switch assembly for the outer mirrors is pressed/despressed)?

As a result of a hit-and-run on the driver-side outer rear view mirror on my '05 Grande I now have a busted retractor motor; the mirror folds/retracts only by hand. I know for a fact the problem lies there because I took the motor apart and repaired it; this only lasted a week before it broke down again, this time for good. Not wanting to shell out 350 euros (in Greece) for a complete mirror assembly if I can help it, I'm trying to find out if the retractor sub-assembly has the motor I need. My local dealership's parts department has never sold such a part and the part diagram doesn't clearly show if the motor's included or not.

I'm really grateful for all the help i can get.

    Thank you,

    Nikolas

Is this feature available on Australian models? Mine is an 04 Grande and doesn't (at least that I know of?). Nikolas, have you tried http://www.toyodiy.com/

The car was delivered in Dec '04, that's why I call it a '05. It has power folding/unfolding side mirrors (the mirror switch assembly has three "buttons": left/right side select, four-way mirror adjust, and the fold/unfold one). Isn't that the same with an Aus. market Grande?

Yes I have looked up toyodiy.com, I found the pic and part number for the retractor sub-assembly there; I can't for the life of me tell whether the retractor motor is part of it or no. And the motor isn't sold on it its own.

          A good idea, but...

31.590 yen is 307 euros. Before shipping cost (let alone customs and VAT that may be levied on it). The mirror's sold in Greece for 350 euros, installed at no cost, and you pay once you see it working.

          Thanks for the input, anyway.
