  • Auto windows roll-up when locking car

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to have my '05 Grande windows roll up automatically when I lock the car with the Toyota key. Has anyone managed this? My efforts with an exprerienced audio/car calarm installer have so far not been successful.

    Thank you,

    Nikolas

Get urself a steelmate auto window lifter 4 window kit. They have them at jaycar for about 60 bucks or so. It comes with a wireing diagram, any good auto electrician should be able to figure it out. I did mine myself in my forester I had, but I also had the wireing diagram for the window button plugs. So if anyone has the diagram of the window plugs I'll do mine myself an do a write up. Its not really that hard just time consuming.

Does Steelmate make a specific window closer for CANBUS controlled windos? Because the wwindow switches are not a stadard two wire job, there are five instead .

Yeah but I'm sure u only need 2 of those 5 wires for the mechanism to close it.

Unfortunately no. My installer has tried out every each way to make any two wires work. He aso tried Toyota window "ecu's" built for car alarm integration, with no result. Apparently early model 120's (03-06) are hard to integrate, later models work fine (he has successfully done it on a '08 Prado)

Over the years, I have found this site very handy or that sort of thing. http://www.the12volt.com/

                Good luck. :-)
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.

Davros, thanks a lot on the link. Ill certainly look there and ask around.

Noobie, unfortunately, my installer's efforts have reached a blank wall, no mater what route he took (using the standard Toyota key, wiring diagrams from the service manuals, seperate windows ecu's etc).

I'll keep looking though, and I'll update this thread if there's progress.
