Low range light

Hey Guys. the other day i was driving around town with a friend and the car somehow got put into low range, i figured this when it was revving high and i was barley doing 50. is there meant to be a light that comes on when it is in low range. the other lights work for when you put in the center diff lock.
just wondering as it seams weird that there would be nothing on the dash to tell you.

I'm not aware of anything other than the centre diff lock light but that should alert you as it shouldn't be on when on the road.

Hey case, yes the light should most definetley go on. It does on my 2007 D4D GXL anyway. You can only engage low range when you're in neutral or park though... how did your mate manage to do that while you were driving?!?!

Loz, are you saying you have a low range light - I've never seen one? Only light I know is the centre diff lock and Case said that was on. The point I was making was that you shouldn't have the centre diff locked when on the road so that light being on should tell you to check what's going on anyway.

Sorry I misread it then. When I have the car in:
H2 - no light
H4 - Orange light comes on (chassis shape with an X in the centre)
L4 - Orange light comes on (chassis shape with an X in the centre) Same as above

However, I did notice once, I had engaged H4 on the road to test it out, did 20 metres, then disengaged it. I had to drive 500m+ before the light went off. Was very worried for those 500m

That's OK then. On mine it's H, HL, N, LL with the centre diff lock light on in HL and LL. If you engage HL then disengage it on the road it can take a while to unlock. I was told to either try and drive with one set of wheels on a soft surface or to stop and reverse until the light goes out. The reason it stays on is you get wheel wind up that needs to be released before it will disengage.

Case has a Grande. Grandes can go into low range without locking the centre diff. With the other models, the centre diff lock is automatically on when selecting low range i.e. LL or high range - locked i.e. HL. There is no low range light, just the centre diff lock light.

Grandes can go into low range without locking the centre diff.

Not just the Grande. Any of the automatic models from the 06 upgrade on that have stability and traction control. My GX can be shifted into low range with the centre diff unlocked. Can be very handy. AND very slow.
