Marc, If you look in the CD Manual you will find how to do it. You will find how to remove it under

Repair Manual, Instrument Panel/Meter, Instrument Panel Safety Pad Sub-Assy, Relacement (Pages 71-13 to 71-23).

Once you have the panel out you then take it apart as shown under Step 4 (Remove Speedmeter Glass)

Repair Manual, Instrument Panel/Meter, Combination Meter Assy, Overhaul (Pages 71-25 to 71-27).

It's held in by 2 screws and 7 plastic claws.

              Cheers mate.
              Just got it
Bit hard to tell but do you reckon I wouldhave to do anything prior to step 38 to take it out?

Like you said, a bit hard to tell - you might have to do step 37 so that the clips will come out in step 38. Got to be worth trying though. So, 37 (or 38) to 39 then jump to step 4 on page 71-25.

Did you take the cover off to do it or just polish the front?

Just the front so far, have to leave the inside for when I have more time but what an improvement!

I bought my VuPlex from CarCarePRoducts: http://www.carcareproducts.com.au

It is advertised for $22 at the moment. I bought a heap of stuff (not for the Prado though, too exxy) so no idea what postage is or whether you can get it elsewhere.

This sounds silly but tooth paste (white paste rather than the blue gel) also works polishing plastics (smells nice as well . It has a fine cutting compound in it.
