still waiting on the dealer to get back to me regarding what is on the policy. Good to know I can go straight to the insurer. How are Swann to deal with or have people gone through a broker.

Extended warranty- Thoughts?

It's really depends on dealreship. I originally contacted at least 3 of them.
One of them said they don't sell the Toyota warranty because they got their own inhouse warranty    . Another one only had the toyota warranty at RRP, and the third one told me to call Toyota Finance to arrange one. When I did call toyota finance the price I was quoted was bigger than the RRP quoted by the dealer   ...
At the end I ended up buying the Swann Insurance from the same dealership that Pedro recommended. My Prado Buildiup Since 2004

Re: Extended warranty- Thoughts?
My factory warranty runs out in January next year so a little way off yet. I haven't bothered with extended warranties with Toyotas in the past but I will keep the car 5 to 6 years and I keep looking at the injector and D4D problems and being a little concerned. So I am thinking of taking out the extended Toyota warranty. 150,000km and up to a further 3 years are the maximums. I am quoted $1840 for this, anyone else looking at this and have different quotes?

You can only extend the factory warranty for a further 3yrs or 150,000km (total) and the vehicle must have less than 90,000 when you purchase the extended warranty.

Re: Extended warranty- Thoughts?
I had the Prado in today for the 70k service and as I will be keeping the car past the usual warranty period / km AND the fact that I am nervous about the injectors I took out the Toyota approved extended warranty insurance. Something Ito be aware of is that for the warranty to be considered you need to be within the normal warranty time frame (fair enough) but also have fewer than 90,000 km on the odometer. Now that came as a surprise so anyone thinking of taking out the warranty be aware.

Re: Extended warranty- Thoughts?
Well after reading about the issue Masso has had I thought I would look into this for our car. Just having the 80k service done today and factory warranty expiring in October made me get the 'ol finger out.
Rang Toyota and got a quote of $1,940. Bit steep but if I have to use it, it will be worth every cent. They have had in the last month a new engine claim, $12k and given a customer a new car as it was not worth fixing! Oh what a feeling!Regards,

Re: Extended warranty- Thoughts?
I extended mine in about July last year just before the original ran out. From memory I paid about the same as Leachy for the Factory extended. I did get a cheaper offer from a dealership in Adelaide near work (I think it may have been about $1200) for a further 3 years upto 150000kms but I opted to go for the genuine deal as it gives you more flexibility. Also the servicing HAD to be done at that dealership otherwise they would not honor the extended warranty.Nick

Re: Extended warranty- Thoughts?
I bought an Extended Factory Warranty from a dealer earlier this year before the originals ran out for about $1300 after doing some phoning around for prices, and have now had the injectors replaced through it. Given we hope to do some fairly extensive touring over the next couple of years, I reckon it's a great investment.
