Grande DownHillAssist only workable during offroad downHi???

The Toyota service Manager answered to me that the DAC can be only be useful when the vechicle run in a offroad downhill situation. I am so miserable about this answer because I experience vechicle unable to slow down at the down slope On Road situation, instead, the vechicle seems to lock and release the brake making the vechicle choking.

Anybody has this experience OR the Toyota man answer is right .

My vehicle is not equipped with such fancy electronics as DAC but my understanding is it ONLY to be used in down hill situations in low range.

yep (i don't have it either) but i've seen on of the guys use it on a PP cruise one day and it is all about almost stopping the car without the lockup so out on the open road it's no use for what your after.

kicking the auto lever, or shifting down a few gears is really the only option there..

Remedy ? Slow Down for the driving conditions and brake early. Failing this perhaps a few more driving lessons. :wink:

You'll find that the DAC CAN ONLY BE USED when in Low range.
So unless your going to drive round all day in Low, it cannot be switched on.

If your wheels are locking, maybe you have a braking issue? Have you had the ABS checked?

Are you actually using the vehicle gears to slow down on the hill or going in rolling and just using brakes?
If so, a 4wd trainer course may be of a benefit to you in learning descent methods.
