  • Not in the Owners Manual - Lo Range Selected

Here are a couple of those questions that despite my best efforts (including lookin in the Owners Manual  ) I've not been able to sort out - but I kind of know the answer is going to be so obvious I'm gonna look like a real wacker....

    1. When the Hi - Lo shifter is in Low, why is there no light in the instrume panel to show tthat you are in Lo? (or perhaps there is and the lamp behine mine has blown). I realise you should/would know by the feel of the way she's handling - but just I just expected there to be some other indication incase another driver jumps in etc. Is this normal? (ie: no indication)

    2. One of my kids sat in the middle seat in the second row and now the seat belt won't retract. The belt is out almost enough to use it, but not quite - but it won't release more belt and it won't retract. I'm thinking it's in some kind of "locked" state - but I can't figure how to release it.

Any ideas / comments on either or both of these?

I get the indicator that the centre diff is locked but no differentiation between Hi or Lo. ... but then mine is the older '03 model.

Sounds like the belt has just tensioned up and needs a little jiggle to sort it. If not, take it back and get Toyota to fix / replace it - it could just be a little dry.

    Cheers

D4D30 .. I am interested in when and where you ordered your VX? I have an identical vehicle on order in Newcastle, ordered Aug 3rd. Told to expect it at the end of October...

        G'Day Phil

Order mine in mid June and was told it would be ordered 1 July, which it was. Slipped from being an August build to a Sept Build (w/c 3 Sept to be precise) and was on a ship by 12 Sept and arrived at Melb approx 22 Sept. At the dealer on the 29 Sept and I picked it up on the 4 October. Private deal, no fleet disc. $68K drive away.

        THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED.

        1. Ok - so there is no light - just have to know that you're in Lo by feel and the shifter position it seems.

        2. I tried the suggested hard tug and found that didn't work BUT short soft tugs pushing the belt back into the seat immediatley after found it retracting a little at a time and aft 3 or 4 tugs it is working again without fault. So might have just been one of those freak things that will never happen again. Anyway - 3 years to have it replaced if it does...

        Cheers

          Hi D4D40
          1. There is a light on your dash that should light up, but will not differentiate between low & hi. Revs will certainly ley you know if you are in low :?

          2. I had the same problem with rear seatbelt in my Feb 07 build. After a lot of jiggling I managed to free it and it has not done it again (fingers crossed). It will likely do it again after warrantry is out

I am going to state the obvious here but you need to remember on the VX to engage 4wd you nee to press the button on the dash to lock the centre diff. No button press equals no light
Dont list all ya mods, you will only be more upset when i get further
