Hi Wayne, yeah I saw that there but wasnt sure. Reason I ask is I want to change mine over (mine is the earlier one with out it) so that I have hands free. I have also seen them in the hilux's and hiace's with a USB port but not sure if the wiring would be the same, or if the radio is universal in the toyota range and its just the wiring thats different in the vehicle ?? USB would be handy also. Would be good to have a look at the back of each one to check out the wiring pins, would give me a better idea. Dont have the $$ for one of the satnav type replacements and to be honest dont really need it, have tomtom anyway just want the hand free...........Cheers Steve

I sold my old headunit for $100 and I know of another you could have for $100 but it doesn't have USB, it does have the bluetooth phone capability.

The toyota double din stereos are all interchangeable, the slot is the microphone. The USB comes with the radio model after the one pictured. I read on this forum somewhere of a ppointer doing this. The latest plays Bluetooth audio so iPhones iPads and any Bluetooth device is compatible. I run the iPad through this for the kids. I'm pretty sure you can even connect reverse camera.

Just a personal note the pictured model has larger buttons the new ones are located at the bottom and are fiddly to press. It is much easier to pair on the pictured model also.

So Pelagicus, the second picture I posted (looks the same as the first picture, unit) you can play ""Bluetooth audio so iPhones iPads and any Bluetooth device is compatible. I run the iPad through this for the kids. I'm pretty sure you can even connect reverse camera."" on this one ?? (not the last picture I just posted which has different face on it and buttons are on the bottom for phone)......Cheers Steve

I think they were out of Klugers, make sure whatever you buy has green buttons as you can't change the colour. My wife's Corolla has the same head unit but with orange buttons.

One last thing D4D, do these units have a security code fitted ?? I thought a lot of radios these days have an issue with having to put in a security code if disconected from the battery ?? If so how do people get around this issue ?? Cheers Steve

If the seller activated the security and didn't remove it, you can take the unit to Toyota and they plug the headunit into a special box to wipe the PIN.

Well that makes the security code a fat lot of use :~

Obviously, you had to prove that you didn't just steal it off another car.

In my case, I took out my Toyota unit to upgrade to another one. (this was a long time ago). I then thought I'd put it on ebay and it was sold. Then I thought that I'd better check that the security code has been turned off, as I couldn't remember, before sending it off to the lucky bidder who bought it for $10.

So I took out the new one and put back the old one and it asked for a code (which I don't remember, of course). So with the dash all apart, I drove to the dealer and explained the situation. They were going to charge me but they probably saw how desperate I looked (actually they said that because I had it out of the console already, there was no charge). It literally took them longer to get the yellow lunch box with the electronic gadgetry out from the shelf than to reset the PIN.

I have the same unit as Steve M in my 120, fantastic unit, having the bluetooth music player to play music from my iPhone is really handy and the phone functions also work well.
I got mine out of a Hilux which has green buttons.
Mine didn't have a security code, I called CMI Toyota before I fitted it and they told me that if it did have a secirity code that they would re code it for $45 but as amts said it would need to be installed in the vehicle already. Apparently if there is a flashing red light on the front of the stereo when the accessories is off that indicates that the unit is security coded. That may help to work it out before removing it from the vehicle it came from.
