  • Will 33" tyre fit our 120 standard suspension?

    Hi Guys

I'm thinking of ordering a new tyre for my Prado, currently I am using 20" Rims with a radial tyre but I got bore of it.

Thinking of ordering Nitto Mud Grappler 33x12.50R20LT the overall Inflated Dimension diameter of this tyre will be 32.95"

and the width is 12.80" I know that I will need to use a spacer in order to negative my offset to let this tyre fit but I would

like to know weather these tyre will fit in our 120 Prado standard suspension? If not,

could anyone recommend shock up or spring that I should chose? I don't drive fast, my normal speed is around 90 - 120 KM/H

and I normally don't use it as a truck may be 1 time a month I could load a lot of weight on the ride but normally I don't.

PS: I don't like my ride to be very high because the car park in my country normally are around 1.90M (currently my Prado can get into a parking at height of 1.80 M)

      Nice tyres.
The standard tyre is close to 31". A 265/70R17 is close to a 32" fits well on standard suspension with very minor rubbing on the upper control arm.

A 33" might be an issue particularly at 12.8" width. You would need a 1.2" wheel spacer or a 0 offset rim. Then you have to worry about rubbing on the guards.

As far as height is concerned, the going to a 33" tyre will give you a 1" lift which leaves you with 3" suspension lift before exceeding carpark height limits.

Meaning that I need to modify my suspension? but is it possible to lift the suspension no more than 2" to put these tyres on?

pics of my 120 with 33"s, 4" lift and roof rack.

33"s will not fit without modifying the suspension.

Thank you for the reply 8608, however according to the site Arctic Trucks

I saw that they only lift 20mm of the suspension in order to put on a 33" tyre.

What kind of shock up or spring do they use? Is it available in the market?

Arctic trucks also MOVE the whole front diff assembly forward to clear the tyres on the body.

You cannot fit 33 without modifications. they will hit massively on the front, removing mudflaps etc fairly quickly..

What brands did you go for with the lift?
