  • Would someone still want a new "old" 3.0 diesel?

    I did a search last night on www.carpoint.com.au and there is still about 28 brand new Prados with the KDJ120R motors.

    What are the benefits of buying the older engine?

    Is it better tolerance to poor quality fuel?

    More robust auto gearbox perhaps?

    Easier to repair engine?

    Better negotiation on prices?

    Simplicity? No dual zone a/c for GXL for example or controls on steering wheel.





    Am interested in your thoughts..... :wink:

    Firstly what makes you think they are the old motor when they are all 2007 models listed there ? & secondly those pics in the adverts are of V6 models !!

    KDJ-120R does not mean that its the old motor.

        As you have stated they are the New Upgrade Models why is anyone waiting for a Prado! looks like Toyota have solved the shortage problem enmass :!:

          Yes I would, if the budget allows it. However the old diesel is not as good as the D4d. Also there is a greater servicing interval for the old diesel. It's 5000k for the old Vs 10000k for the new.

            Guys,
            it looks as if they are all pre-mid 07 update, all diesel's would be D4D & yes a lot of petrol versions.

              If i was looking for a new one that would be the first place i would start.

              By the looks of some of them they are current spec models with rear A/C

                Given that they are 6 speed manual or 5 speed auto's make them all D4D's, the old diesel was a 4 auto &5 manual speed combo. The one's that had interior photo's of the GXL were pre update with no climate.
                However makes you wonder were all of these D4D's have come from given the shortage of this car over the last few months?????.
                Maybe a lot of cancelled orders.

                  Oops, my bad. It's very confusing. After doing some more research, KDJ looks to be the new D4D, yet in the pictures, these vehicles do not have the D4D badge on them.

                  I wonder if this is some kind of a trick to lure customers into calling in?
