Clearance height limit for dummies.

On my last 4x4, a Holden Frontera (Isuzu Rodeo for those US readers), I placarded the roof clearance for my wife so she knew the height of the vehicle when entering car parks.

Here's the latest placard on my new Prado 120 series.

It includes extra for Toyota 'aero' roof cross bars.

Roof clearance height

I could have used that the other day pulling into a carpark, sign said 1.95M, figured I was good, forgot about the roof bars being up there plus the suspension lift. Luckily the car park was higher than 1.95 and I only hit the warning bar, hell of a noise, scared the S**t out of me, I thought I would have to get out and pick up the roof bar but not even a dent or a scratch. Got lucky, I won't forget again.

I'm good at 2.1m (by a bee's d*ck) provided I lower the rear suspension to its lowest setting... thanks to the cross bars and Rhino Rack :shock:

I think that you have just answered a question that I have been going to post up. I am looking at fitting a Rhino rack and wanted to know if it would all fit under 2.1m. I'd prefer not to have to take the rack off all the time. Suspension is standard now, but I might put a bit of lift in before I go to the Cape next year.

A height sticker is good idea for any "taller than average vehicle". All my 4WDs and trucks have them. My Prado is just on 2100 mm with ARB tradesman rack, some lift and larger tyres.

Agreed Matthew.

Mine sits at 2120 mmm with the roof rack and lift.
My FM aerial sits at 2215 mm and is my depth guage (for want of a better term :lol: ) ... makes life interesting in carparks with a 2200 mm clearance

When I put any bags or a spare up on the rack I'm buggered.

I tend to be careful when going into the unknown and I no longer trust signs telling me the clearance height on garages. One unit complex I had to go take care of told me I had a 2.1m clearence normally not a problem. Thankfully I had a problem with the operation of the key to open the door(no clearance bars) so I got out to jiggle the lock, looked back at the Prado and with the angle of the drive and the way it flattened out I'd of got wedged
