  • Poor bluetooth phone reception

The issue I have is that when I make a call from the iPhone connected via Bluetooth the receiver gets very poor quality sound. What I hear is very good quality, its just the person at the other end that gets the poor quality sound.

It appears that the sound picked up by the microphone is being clipped.

From looking at similar threads here there is a model of the Toyota radio that can have the microphone volume adjusted but I don't believe this is one of them.
My 120 GXL would be the last before the 150 came out.

Possible options are to attach an external microphone (not sure if this is possible) or to buy another radio.

    Suggestions please.

See if Toyota will swap your current radio under warranty claim for a 'mic gain fault'

Otherwise upgrade to a later model where you can increase the gain whilst on a call.

The truck is out of warranty and yes I have tried the suggested link. It is a different model from the unit described in the Toyota service bulletin.

I have also looked at the Parrot Bluetooth unit, this will completely replace the factory bluetooth and will be wired into the radio speakers with an external mic.

I'm sure plenty will disagree, but I think this is a big problem with all Toyota double din radios.
Hilux, Prado 200 series, no-one can bloody hear us. We can hear them.
          The camrys are growse.
So is my $242 replacement that does everything except pass out cold coke cans (like I sad I don't drink)
Fix your problems on eBay, search w602c. I fixed all mine in the centre of the dashboard :-)

Very good. Pretty easy once you know.
You find the reverse wire easy behind the passenger floor kick trim for the signal required to trigger it on back of unit.
Route it real easy along left side, then to power the cam at rear I used the reverse signal at Towbar wiring.
I mounted it centre above Towbar on black trim.
Rather than have to root around in the rear door, then it's not centre anyway.
It very good to back under a trailer hitch or to check behind when doing a 5 point turn on a BAD track lol....
Ohhh and to check for kids or their bikes hiding behind.
Good colour picture, hey I'm going to test it in the dark......

Yes I disagree, I had the updated head unit (same model) fitted under warranty and problem solved. I also swapped to a later head unit for the reverse camera and also don't have a problem hearing me.

Up until now, everyone I know has the same issue. Even in new cars in the last 2 years.
So there you go it must be fixable. Toyota tell me it's just how it is.
