  • Out of warranty - non Toyota service?

My 120 is out of warranty in Jan 08. I have been happy with the service from the local Toyota dealer through this time. But ....

Do any of you use a 3rd Party for your servicing and are getting better price/performance than the Toyota dealers?

yup.. the only service i had toyota do was the free one at 1000kms

i take it to you local RAS place.. (repco authorised service)
    Nationwide warranty.. http://www.repcoservice.com/

call a few places and ask for a quote on the service..

i saved 1-200 bucks on each service as apposed to the toyota price.

        hi whiteman

Think it depends on the dealer. When i had my last prado had to get Toyota to service it as there wasn't any other garages in the town (Mundubbera QLD) and we got ripped off. Drove over to Bundaberg and got ripped off their as well moved south and sworn black and blue would not use a toyota dealer again but had to due to my contract with work and they have been great.

My theory if you are happy and trust the guys with your pride and joy leave them alone with it. Having said that it doesn't do any harm to compare prices as most places are open to bargaining.

This is true in some cases. But there are often a few highly skilled tradesmen amonsgt them.

Only thing is you cant watch them carry out works on your vehicle.

A recent service carried out at our dealer as a requirement of our third party warranty showed a few things that needed doing.

            Like:

            Air Filter
Brake Shoes for hand brake (Apparently there is no adjustment)
            Gas Struts for bonnet
            Brake Fluid

plus a few other things which totalled $870

Then when i asked for a written itemised quotation it came in the mail it was hand written on a letter head... While this is still an acceptable way to communicate it stinks of un-professionalism. I am sure that they had a printer in the bloody office to print out a proper quote.

              warranty work

              Hi Whiteman
I use to live in Townsville and had mine serviced through the toyota dealer which was dear as poison then found Rawnsley Autos. They were excellent and much cheaper, he is an ex Toyota shop manager and runs his own family garage. He is in the yellow pages and will look after you.
