  • Sooty oily covering.

    Hello All, while fitting a new fuel filter in the engine bay ,noticed a sooty oily covering of the parts above the rear injector , cleaned it off & will check it after doing a few kilometers, any ideas as to where this might be coming from, not very familiar with what you call these parts in the 120 D4D Prado.

    Could you take a picture and post?

    The only thing that comes to mind is the EGR valve - maybe one of the gaskets is gone. If that is case, and "soot" is in the bonnet area, you can imagine what is in the EGR.
