  • Mechanic Gold Coast

Looking for a mechanic on the gold coast to service my '09 diesel 120 series.

This is the first service with me as the owner and I would like it to be well looked over.
it is at 169,000 k now

My car has is under a 3 year warranty from the dealer as long as I get it serviced every 10,000 so that rules out servicing it myself.

A mate of mine recommended Gills Garage in Currumbin http://www.gillsgarage.com.au/

Where do you guys take your car?
any recommendations for a mechanic that knows the Prado on the Gold Coast?

    Hi Grim,

Just double check that you don't have to take it back to the selling dealership for servicing as this is normally the case with "Dealership Warranties".

If the warranty is a Dealership specific warranty it is most likely underwritten by Harrier (3 year or 175,000km, whichever comes first) and if you do not service at the selling dealer, the warranty is void.

I do not have to take it back to the dealer,
I have choice of mechanic as long as I get it serviced every 10,000 or 6 months and have to call to authorise before any repairs are done.

Have the injectors been replaced? General consensus is 130k KM.

Wish I knew that when I bought mine.

I do not think they have been done.

I have read bits and pieces about this issue, is there a way to check if they need replacing?
I have an auto electrician mate with a rather expensive injector cleaning machine. or is it the seals that are the issue?
are there any signs showing they are going? or just boom?

Hi all, just thought I'd bring up an old thread. After a good 4x4 mechanic here on the Gold Coast. After my last service with toyota I won't be going back, prado was filled with over 6lt of oil, drained it and refilled it myself with 5lt. Towbar recall was done and they couldn't even refit the plastic trim properly and for the money they charge that's unacceptable. Has anyone had dealings with 4x4 & performance nerang or have any other recommendations .
            Thanks in advance

I have just bought a 2009 120 Grande Ex Brisbane dealer and also have the warranty provision of getting serviced every 10K kilometres.
I have been going to Nerang Euro - Bob Love for my BMW servicing for years and nominated him for my service org. for the Prado as he is very experienced servicing 4X4 diesels. They accepted him.
If you wish simply ring and talk to him - he is a nice guy and his charges are reasonable and he does what he says he will do... that is a little different to the local TOJO dealers I am hearing.
i.e. I went in last week to get a suspension leveling switch checked out, and all my oils changed on the Prado and came away with a $435.00 bill... work that one out... So I am taking my car to Bob from now on.
              Hope this helps a little.

I too would like some feedback about these guys. I live in Nerang so would be handy. If I've heard nothing in the next 2 months when the 200K service is due I might just bight the bullet and try them out.

I use Autoleaders in Robina. I know the owner and have my Prado serviced by Matt Taylor - who owns his own 120 Diesel. Great service and Matt is a very experienced Diesel Mechanic. Your warranty will still be covered.

Got my 200k service at 4wd performance center today. Real nice bunch of blokes. Seem thorough. They did rear and center diff oils, engine oil and filter, fuel filter, brake flush and fluid, spark plugs, coolant flush, afm clean and found a very small leak in the extractor collector on the drivets side + a general inspection and grease for $803. There was a fair bit of work there so happy with that.
It reminds me of a old fashioned garage with cars bits a crap everywhere.
