  • Driveline Oil Specs

    Hi All,

Just purchased a Prado Petrol GXL 2003 model. I'm going to do all the oils and grease. I've got some conflicting info on what oils to use. I've put down what im going to use, if you's want to comment please? A service specification table would be good!

Engine: Going to use 10/40W Full synthetic
Transfer Case: Conflicting info on this, Castrol Suntrax 75W-90?
    Rear Diff: Castrol LSX90
Front Diff: LSX90 going to be ok?
Driveshafts: unsure which grease i need to use and if they are different for drifferent places?

I'm a bit cautious on the oils, as i have with previous cars found that some of the newer materials cause wear on internal components of older designed brass components etc.

    Cheers

It's all in your owners manual.........Personally I just use the TMC oils for everything except for the engine..(diesel)........I'm sure that there are "better" oils available than the genuine stuff but if you change it when it's due i'm sure they are fine.

    Can I still play now I have a 200 series?........Had a 2008 120 Series D4D Manual 6 Speed...STANDARD White, Soverign Bar..........Rear Cage........Dashmat.......GX Wheels with Good Year Dura Tracs........Bilstein/Dobbo 2'' lift.....Safari Snorkel....Canvas Seat Covers.....20%tint..........55W HID Headlights.....Mudmats front and rear.....
    22'' Lightbar......

every decent oil manufacturer has a lube guide

      Castrol
      http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/Cast...us/default.asp

      Mobil Oil
      http://www.eclubes.com.au/other/ext_...JpbF9hdS8-__64

penrite caltex etc etc etc all have the same

go by their listing as they have already deciphered the actual oil specification requirements and will only list an oil that meets the manufacturers required specification

also note that in 2003 exxonmobil was Toyota's global partner and the factory supplier so the Mobil product listed would have been what came in your jalopy
