  • Selling my Prado (What $$$ Should I ask for?)

    Hi Guys

I'm looking at selling our 10/2006 Prado GLX 6 speed Manual (V6)
with 18,000km on the clock . (Bull Bar , Tinted Windows , headlight , bonnet protectors , seat covers and floor mats ) .

I was looking at putting $50,000 ono on the price tag. Some believe that this is too much ... but I check some of the dealer cars on the net ... and it seem too cheaper ?

Should I lower the price ?????

    Hey m999999 (interesting usr),

Have you had a look @ http://www.redbook.com.au? Should give you a fairly good indication of whether your price is in the right area.

    Good luck with the sale!

No probs... I think you'll find redbook pretty conservative. If you're not in a rush to sell just give it a go and see how much interest you have. You can always lower your price.

          Hi M,
You could also check out carsales.com.au, this would give you an idea of what others are asking.
In your favour is the low Ks, against IMHO is it being a manual.
          Good luck.

id say if you get anything over $46000 you are doing well.

and you would be hard pressed getting that money here in RockStinky.

I sold my 4runner in brisbane for 13500 when the local yota would only give me 7000 in trade. Best i could do privatly in rocky was 10k.

you are going to run into a problem with it being a manual too.. you will need the brisbane market to find those people that specifically want a manual.

You could use this as an example to gauge the value of your rig. I sold my 06/2006, V6 Auto with 26000k for mid 40s last August. It was equiped with an ARB deluxe bar, spotties, OME suspension lift kit, rear outback cargo drawer, TJM snorkel, Dual battery system, ARB air compressor with inflation kit, twin air lockers, GME Tx3400 UHF and good set of D694. It also have factory carpet and rubber mats, bonnet protector, tinted window, hard wheel cover and rust proofing.

In my opinion, 50k is a tad optimistic.

Got any friends in Brisbane - maybe you could ask them to sell it for you if you sign all the paperwork upfront and the purchaser puts the money into your account all should be sweat.

You are probably more likely to sell a manual in the country than the city as city people tend to go auto, Good luck with fifty as you can get a new 2007 auto gxl a the moment for around fifty. I think $45-46 tops.

thanks guys for your comments !

I agree around the $45 mark is a good starting point . I feel the manual will sell well in the Rockhampton area . So I'll slap some signs on the rocket and I'll keep you posted on the end result .

Thanks again for all your help

m999999 i read the bully yesterday and they had an 03 model manual in there for 36000 and it had quite a few options on it.

                        Rocky - 55,000 people
Central Queensland - 180,000 (Mackay - Gin Gin)

                        vs

                        Brisbane - 1,810,943
                        South East Queensland - 3,100,000

Somehow i think there will be more people after a manual in Sqouth East Queensland / Brisbane. Ive tried to sell cars here, and buy cars.. and they sell for less, and buying cars costs more. If you are prepared to wait 6-12 months for the right buyer to come along, you may get the money you want, but you would do that in Brissy in under 3 months.

Matt, you abviously haven't driven in the brisbane traffic lately, no one would want a manual down here.

i wouldnt buy one.. . but there are those that would.. and there is alot more to SEQ then brisbane.. i lived there for 20 years.. and only ever had manuals.. never bothered me. i know the traffic is bad.. but people buy manuals because they like them.. in the city and out of the city.

good luck wherever you sell it..

I have seen the same car at IWM in rocky . Also check out country cars online and seen a 2005 t/d auto(4 speed) with 43,000km for $48.5k and a 2006 v6 auto with 69,000km for $50k .

Anyhow the sale will have to wait , as some redneck in Rocky back into the car today (back bumper is stuffed , no other damage). No Note , No witness .... what can you do ?

and to Jacto ... 'How come you are selling, at 18K you haven't started to enjoy it yet' . Love the motor , loves to rev & great power, plenty of room . Hate the handling , fuel usages . I would prefer a nice handling sedan , also the car was purchased to visit family out west (with very poor roads to the cattle properties) . In-law have now moved ... and the fun part is that the Prado has never been off road YET!

                              cheers
