  • Second Row seat will not fold back 2007 D4D

    Problem just started.
My mechanic eventually pushed something and the seat lifted as in the past.

Seat is now sitting in his workshop waiting for some spare time to investigate further.
He did mention there was a maze of wires underneath.

Anyone had this problem and, if so , how was it fixed.

    Thanks

    Pedro

Have you got kids? Sometimes they drop objects onto the seats and it finds its way inside.

      Ants, thanks for the reply,

Have grandkids but I don't think it is food , as it was clear when it opened after he pushed something underneath

Somehow or other the catch is not releasing through the handle that drops the back down at the same time when pulled.

Mechanic investigated and found nothing unusual .

Put seat back and it worked perfectly.

          Hi Pedro

The seat release mechanism uses a few cables to do the whole seal folding exercise. When you move the lever it pulls on a cable to release the seatback. When the seatback gets to the full down position it pulls another cable which releases the hook that holds the seat bottom.

The mechanism that operates this is situated on the front outside corners on the bottom of both the seats. I had a similar problem and after pulling all apart I noted that on my 2003 GX I just have to remove/unclip the seat cover to gain access to this mechanism. A little WD40 did the trick and I "tweaked" one of the levers but be careful that the excess WD40 does not drip onto your carpet.

          Good luck
