hi everyone, new user here. I have to replace the passenger side front driveshaft. the boot is torn open and im getting some funny noises. My questions are
1 is this an easy enough thing to replace at home? looks simple on youtube (but so am i!!)
2 i can get one for $82, $260 from repco with 5 year warranty, or over $700 genuine. thats a huge difference in price, what would you guys go for? we will be 4wding regularly soon but nothing overly serious.
    thanks everyone!!

Try CBC Bearings for GSP brand, they are allegedly suppliers to many of the auto manufacturers.

            Hi ripperado,
I had a problem a little like this. It was bought on by a frozen caliper. Was 4wding and brakes were hot, went through water, sudden change in temp caused it to freeze. found out on the way home when it felt like the steering wheel started to pull and when I stopped the brake on, funny enough Passenger side front, was smoking. So what I'm getting to is you should check to see if this could be a factor or get someone to check it over for you.

Easy job. You will need a 35mm socket.
              Repco, great warranty & service.

Stay away from the Ebay "Cheap" CV's or complete assembled drive shafts if you want to do anything more than a mild suspension lift. I've seen a couple of different un-known brand ones and they don't allow the same movement in the joints as the factory ones which will limit the amount of travel you'll get out of the front suspension if planning to fit long travel shocks.
Also some of the materials used in the cheap cv boots looks pretty doubtful for long term use.

Go Toyota, Repco or URW (Urawa - Japanese made)
