  • flat deck rack fuel usage difference

am looking to mount an awning to the 120 and am trying to decide how to do it.
was wondering if anyone with the flat deck style of rack can comment on what difference in economy it made after fitting.
its either one of the tigerz11 racks
http://www.tigerz11.com.au/product-c...ies-prado.html or a set of cross bars - either way not much difference in cost - except maybe the hit on economy if its noticeable
    comments , suggestions, experience please

I have a Rhino flat rack and is excellent. It has a mesh base which caused a bit of wind noise but having fitted a small wind deflector, no more noise. I also used Rolla bars which have a much lower profile than the Rhino ones. Running it empty seems to make little or no difference to fuel consumption. 9.4/9.6 on a recent unloaded trip to Swan Hill

Did a Kimberly trip with a second spare (case only) and a mates tent with no problems at all. will put up a couple of photos tomorrow if you like

Thanks for the link I hadn't seen that one, I've been looking at the Tradesman flat deck which is double the price...

that would be great. dimensions or part number for what rack it is would also be helpful.
thinking the tigerz one might be ok but would want to shorten it a bit to get it back from the front. wonder how hard that will be???
pity theres no alloy fabs up here cheap to build one
