  • Sun Visor

    Hi all,
the sun visor on the drivers side on my Prado has kinda given up the ghost - so now it just hangs down. Not just a pain but a bit dangerous as well. I have tried a few wreckers, even Toyota wreckers but without luck. Has anyone else had this problem and short of buying a new one any suggestions on a fix (or replacement)?

    Thanks in advance
    GWP100.

Thanks, have - i think the 2nd hand option the go - just not finding too many wreckers with Prado bits in them....

My 2006 Grande driver side sunvisor flops back down when pushed forward, and the mirror light has stopped working. Looked on YT and it appears there was a Toyota sunvisor recall in the USA.
Any PP member tried out the Toyota recall method?
Any PP member know how to remove and repair?
I guess method it is to pry off the trim cover and remove the visor, open up the visor soft cover and attempt to tighten the gubbins inside on the visor shaft?
        EDIT.
Here is what I did this morning.
I removed visor support trim piece, undid the 2 screws and removed and opened up the sunvisor covering seam at the support end.

I found that the plastic bits that hold the visor up that are around the sun visor shaft are chewed up. The sun visor is toast.

I drilled for M3 nyloc bolts through the plastic inside just beyond the line of the shaft, in two places.

I used four wide flat washers to distribute the pressure as I tightened the two bolts.

Partial result, light works again, and sunvisor stays up but not fully up into the recess in the headliner.

Good enough till I buy a new visor complete. Bxgger!

I'm led to believe a drooping drivers side sun visor on the 120's is a standard problem. You can try the wreckers but chances are theirs will be droopy as well. If anyone has a good fix, let me know.
          Cheers
