Absolute pain in the arse. On flat ground its ok but when in hilly or slightest hilly terrain I don't even bother switching using it and normally I will cancel it out when approaching a hill and take over manually, and it certainly doesn't keep the economy at its best either......Cheers Steve
      Exactly!!!!!

In the Flinders Rangers mine was even worse when I went over three small rises in a row.

      It hit resonance.

It was set at about 90k but by the time I came down the back of the third rise I was doing about 120kph and still accelerating.

      S.

When I report it at service they just tell me it is up to me to drive safely.

stronger diffs would be my 1st suggestion

closely followed by use of better quality materials so dashes don't crack, leather and vinyl that wears very quickly compared to other cars etc

and my bug bear on almost all cars (my previous Audi TT is the only car I have ever owned that had one), please fit a small sun shade over the mirror between the two main sun shades.

oh and a cassette player on a car released in 2003?!? are you serious? no, but really, it took me 2 weeks of ownership to even notice it (I just didn't expect it to be there), then I spent 5 minutes p!$$!ng myself laughing and shaking my head in disbelief...I'm actually chuckling away to myself as I type this... Cassettes? very popular in the 70s and 80s.. but in 2003? really? May as well fitted an 8 track too.

overall though I do love my Prado, it's mostly awesome.

""please fit a small sun shade over the mirror between the two main sun shades"" YES YES YES......totally agree. I have seen this on other cars and I think what a brilliant idea. I may be wrong but Im sure the pajero exceed has this ?? will have to check my neighbours again.... Cheers Steve

I still reckon a cassette player in my 1999 Prado was stupid, let alone 2003. Never put one in it. One thing to correct on 90 series, hard to think of one really. Perhaps the V6 could have been 4.0 litres instead of 3.4 l.

I had my tint guy do a piece up there, was perfect for it, then the screen got busted. Still gotta get him to do it again.

I've been through a number of different headlight cleaners on my previous jzx100, all done properly with the sandpaper, different chemicals and then a proper sealant, all while having the headlight removed so application was as even as it could be and they still continually went yellow within 6 months. Nothing like going past a toyota dealership and seeing 2012 model cars with headlights the colour shade of an old toilet.

It really annoys me when you see Toyotas built in the 80s being built to a higher standard in many ways compared to today's cars (wow I sound like an old man).

I'd be more than happy if they just changed that arrogant as f##K attitude that their service department staff seem to come standard with.

^ I'll second that. I used to work in a service based industry were customer service was completely everything. Nothing was too much for the customer we even had to Christmas wrap the Christmas boxes!!! Never felt easy at Toyota but some of the D4d threads have left me a bit biased/sour taste in my mouth???!!!

Make the third row of seats an option waste of money if you buy for towing and off road use

My wife carefully used toothpaste on our daughter's X-Trail polycarbonate covers, and most of the yellowing has disappeared. Used with a soft cloth to apply, then washed off with water.

PS *no responsibility accepted if it does not work*

You can buy the kits from Autobarn, Super Cheap, Repco etc, between $30-40 from memory.

I use a mix of car polish and car cutters polish (90% to 10%) works great
rub in as if you are waxing the car, buff off
                                cheers
