can the fuel light be adjusted ?

is your hard to fill right up ?

twice i have had the light come on, basicly right on empty
do 20km get into servo and put 179.5L
it clicks out at about 160L but you can still put another 19 odd litres in till it is right up to the top

does anyone else have this issue?

once full my car stays on full for nearly 300km then starts to drop down
90L light comes on around 950km then it drops of the full quite quickly

when it gets close to the empty mark the light comes on then i have 25km and i am pushing
problem is at a 1/4 it seams to drop quite quickly giving very little warning in distance left

this is only the second time filling the car, so i have been checking out how much goes in as the light comes on

my last Prado the light came on around the 165L so 15L left

what is telling the light to come on ? the guage or a depth level?

i gets scary when the car holds 180L and you put 179.5L in ~!!!!~

which tank would the light be reading from???

There is something wrong here. It shouldn't stay on full for so long and then drop so fast.
Mine does this (Petrol, yours may be diesel so better economy):
Gradually goes down to just under half after about 500-550km's.
90L light come on and gauge goes back to the top.
Gauge then goes down even slower (as it uses the whole gauge this time, not just half of it).
We've never had the light come on though as we've only owned it for 4 months and the wife hates waiting till the light comes on. I want it to come on just so I can see how much was left in the tank.

mine is exactly opposite to yours ( and so was my other D4D prado )

90L light comes on and shows full again goes down very quick in like 500km
but the fits tank to 1/2 on the gauge take 950km to get to the 1/2 way point then the 90L light come on

Yes mine with full tanks will go to just under half, then green light comes on and it's flicked upto full again and yes mine does drop quickly from full to between 3/4 and full. I'm certain it actually uses some fuel from the 2nd tank prior to flicking over as mine seems to hover around half way/ just under for a while before it flicks over. My fuel light doesn't come on till virtually with the needle sitting on empty. I have run it till guage under empty, have risked it a few times but haven't filled it chockers after doing that. I just like to try and get any old fuel out. I probably will run out one day doing it lol.... Cheers Steve

Mine sits at Full for ages then but then drops quite regularly. But my fuel light comes on about 1/3 between Empty and 1/4, not on E. I always thought it left me about 15-20 litres to play with. I'm paranoid about having it on and fill up as soon as I can. My first cars were all cheap bangers. One had a fuel gauge that never went about 3/4 full so I never trusted it, so I've learnt not to trust any gauges more than I have to.

This thread has a bit more on what you should be getting when your light is on so sounds like yours has an issue: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...1-Reserve-fuel

There's a quote in post 44 about how this works which is interesting:

As stated before, once the green 90 litre light comes on, the fuel from the rear tank is being transferred into the front tank, via a transfer pump. I have found, using the Scanguage II, to monitor this process, that once the main tank is emptied and the light comes on, the transfer process takes place for a bit (While you are driving along) and then there is 80 litres left to go, so in theory, it takes about 17 litres worth of driving, for the transfer from the rear tank, to the front tank to be completed..

So roughly, the answer to the different travel distances from each tank is that ya get about '100 litres' from the front tank - real world and about '80' litres after the 90 litre comes on..

Mine drops to just under 1/2 before clicking over to a full gauge and the 90L light coming on. It drops pretty quickly from there, especially the last 1/4 tank. The fuel light comes on once the gauge is just about to touch empty. I have driven about 20 more kms after the light comes on before filling up. I have only ever put 160L back in to the tank, filling it until the fuel is up to the top.
