Bonnet appears to be bouncing around

Hi,

I have noticed the Bonnet bouncing around a little on my 2008 Prado. My friend also has a prado and when bonnet is latched his seems to have a lot less play in it than mine. Has anyone else had this problem??? Can it be tightened in some way??

You can adjust the latch down a bit maybe.
And or unscrew the rubber bumps either side under the bonnet.

Do you have a bulbar. It can sometimes give the illusion you bonnet moving but the bars these days with their mounts move around a lot. First time I drove mine with the Genuine Sovereign bar on it I thought it was going to fall off!

Hendo you will find it's not the bar moving at all, it is bolted to the chassis. The chassis is what is moving, it is just not transferred to the body through the mounts.

Actually I think you will find its both the body and the chassis moving / flexing, both are steel and steel flex's. the fact that guards crack from time to time shows that body flexes. They just move independently of each other.

Funny i just put some tape around the latch as my bonnet if u pulled up it moved and made a knocking noise only moved a mm or so but enough to see it and like i said noise of the latch hitting the metal i just put some insulation tape and it now closes tight as no movement and i hoping one less rattle noise while i driving

Having the same issue with my prado. Have adjusted the rubber bumpers with no luck. Unsure how to adjust latch to hold it down tighter. Theres quite a bit of movement to the point it feels like only the first latch is clicking in. Any ideas how to fix it?

Same. My latch is at its full adjustment and even winding the rubber adjusters up only last so long before they wing themselves back down.
Need to modify the holes in the latch plate to make it drop lower.
