  • Fuel Tanks

I keep my Prado tanks topped up every Sunday. normally about 40-50 litres but sometimes up to 75 litres. Therefore I am not accessing the other 90 litres.

Should I run off the bottom 90 litres to keep the fuel 'fresh' so to speak.

    What risks am I taking?

Not sure if there's any risks. It all mixes up.
When I had my 120 I just filled up every 4 weeks or so.
Now I fill up every 1-2 weeks - only a relatively smallish tank in the Discovery....loving the 8 sp auto twin turbo v6 diesel 600 torques and 8.7 l/100k vs prado 10.3.
      But still a PP addict.

Off topic but rhs58 our neighbour has the new Disco T/D and just come back from pulling his 24 footer around loaded to the hilt with 4 kids and a dog running the climate air all the time and got 13.7L per 100 average. He was absolutely stoked with that. Great vehicle....Cheers Steve

So looking at some of your other posts you have a 2008 D4D, the fuel pump pumps more fuel than is needed and returns the excess to the tank after pumping it through a fuel cooler. So your fuel is constantly being recirculated, so I would say you are taking no risks at all.

            Cheers Andrew

Yes 2008 D4D - thanks for that. Wasn't sure whether the total fuel was accessed or just 90 litres.
