  • looking at a 2007 prado

Hi all, Looking at buying a 2007 prado, had a problem with our 2000 model with overheating losing coolant, don't want the same problem again
Do you have any problems with that model?
Are you happy with the fuel economy?
    Thank you

    Petrol or Diesel?

The 07 D4D gives great economy, I average around 9.2 litres per 100 km.

Not really sure we have a 2000 turbo diesel at the moment it is pretty crap. Really don't know what to do whether go to the petrol or stick with diesel.

Do you have any mods like lift kit or tyres etc? I consistantly get around 9.2 when not towing. When towing I get around 12.4. I definitely get way more than 1400 km out of a tank, I would be looking at the fuel your getting.

edit: Okay I just saw your sig and those extras will definitely impact on your fuel figures.

              Marie,

I've got a D4D and have had it going hard in deep sand for hours with an ambient temp of 47 degrees with no over heating problems (Engine or Auto trans).
I know plenty of people with older TD who have never had overheating issues. I would suggest there is something fundamentally wrong with your Prado rather than it being an inherent fault.

Toyota have just dropped the price of petrols in WA by 5-6000... pretty good.
seems they have petrols on hand and want to move them..

I visited the dealer yesterday and was told to expect at least a 3 month wait on the D4D (depending on colour) while availability of the V6 is immediate.

I'm not that far away from ordering but as yet don't know which engine option to choose.

Wow that sounds like a bargin. I wonder if they are '07 models, guessing so. What has surpirsed me is that in the last 12 months I haven't seen any factory discounting on Prado's (in Sydney anyway).I guess demand outstrips supply.
