        • i just looked at the toyota parts database and i found 10 different part numbers for 10 windscreens in australian spec vehicles...

it appears that since 2006, kdj120 models had glass that had a "lam, t=5.4" screen whereas all the others have a "lam, t=5.3" screen. the part number for the "5.4" screen is 56111-60650.

do with that information as you will.

          • Well - given I was over the 'other side of town today in Belconnen - called into Tyrepower and they said my order of tyres were in and they could do them NOW. Went for a coffee while 5 x Toyo Open Country AT IIs fitted @ $280 each and $45 for a wheel alignment. Total cost $1445.

They offer a recheck of wheel balance after 5000km and free wheel rotations every 20000 kms. Now that is interesting because I would normally (and will) get my service garage to rotate every other 10000kms. How much mileage do they expect to get out of them? My Goodyear Wranglers only gave me 47,000 kms (down to less than 15%).

Only put 21 kms on them so far - but they felt very good. He he. They recommend 35 PSI. Comments?

I'm pretty sure my GXL had one too. It always sounded noisier after I replaced it with an aftermarket one.

              • Put in some bush ranger floor mats (sandgrabbas just too much of a stretch for the budget, would rather spend on side bars). Also replace all interior lights with LEDs from jaycar. $80. 5 minute job. Huge difference! Now when I lose something in the car I might actually find it! Will also be good for camping... less drain on the battery.

Also swapped out the park lights but found them too white so switched back to the incandescent. Need to find just the right colour to blend with the Philips Xtreme halogens...

RACQ had the screen listed. I did request a OEM screen and not a aftermarket one. I also requested the rubber trim on the top be replaced with a OEM one as well.

                  • Got Tom at 4WD Systems to have a test drive and check out my Lokka. After driving around for 10 or so minutes he finally got the rear end to let out a loud bang. It does this after steering with right hand down and commencing to straighten up as the centre locks again. The noise is apparently nothing to be worried about and everything is fine. The reason it only does it on the right side is possibly due to a slight offset in the Lokka halves which also is not a problem. I figured if it didn't blow up whilst we were in Tassie then it should be okay but it certainly is a little disconcerting when you give it the boot through a right corner.

                    • Well if that's "normal" for an auto locker then I can rule out that as an option in the 79, selectable lockers for me all the way. ARB or Eaton the only question now.

                      Cheers Andrew

                      • I think that's pretty average advise, I think the bang is it cracking free, it's about the only thing it can be.
Mine does it now & then, maybe 5 times in 40,000k. Overall it really it works excellently. Seems to be very reliable.
But the others that have them have never reported this noise.

So IMO its not normal, maybe a light bang on unlock at times, but it sounds like yours is going off!
We're all the clearance checks within spec?
Also was the unlock test ok? That should confirm correct operation. Tom should have put it up & checked unlock test, did he?

If mine was going off, I'd sort it out or take it out, sounds pretty crap.

                        • Finally found a decent priced Sovereign bullbar and put that on during this week. However i've found i have two options for the finder liner and that's either cut it or buy the $251 toyota kit for the metal "tags" so the liner attaches properly.

does anyone have pictures of what these look like?

                          • Final 'fixes' after my Flinders trip today. Fractured XXX HID driving light replaced ($350) and failed rear charge point (ciggie and 2xUSB) which failed due too much drain for Ipad charge replaced with new dual ciggie point and a 1+2 amp plug in charger ($70 for both) plus labour.

                            • Unfortunately, I didn't get the check sheet back from the installer with all the clearances on it. This may have been a $600 mistake as I really do not like the noise nor the back lash. It never did it from the start so I wasn't concerned. The normal clicking when it unlocks is fine.

Bugger, I thought you did it.
$600 is a lot if you took the centre to them. Its about 1 hr of easy work once its out, So I think take it back to them.
