The 120 got the 120k service yesterday not today.

Booked in for the 180,000km service on Tuesday, so gave her some TLC, a wash and polish.....

Spent 2 days fitting a roof top solar panel. One day to knock up an ally frame and fit the panel and another day to wire it up including installing the regulator. Supposed to push 6.7amps at full tilt. Still have room under the panel for gear.

Used the Karcher drain cleaner on the chassis rails today. Managed to go all the way from the front to the rear bar on the driver's side. On the passenger's side it stopped at the rear wheel.


Was pretty happy with the outcome as a lot of dirt came out at the rear.

Now to actually use it in the drain

Slimline 120 Watt flexible panel. Only a couple of mm thick. Approx 1000mm x 550mm. Produces up to 6.7amp. With the added regulator/controller I notice it just keeps the battery topped up when accessories are off and i turned on one of the Engels and the regulator displayed over 5 amps going into the battery even with a partly cloudy sky. Panel cam from Itechworld in Rivervale (WA). I also have one of their folding 200w kits with internal regulator that puts up to 10amps in. I sometimes plug this into the car when running both engels and not driving for a few days. I also have 3 x BP 50w on my CT.

How do you now go putting stuff on the roof for trips? I assume you can't put the normal heavy items on the solar panel.

How do you now go putting stuff on the roof for trips? I assume you can't put the normal heavy items on the solar panel.

I can still put stuff under the panel. Normally I only have a spare wheel and my 4 x maxtrax up there anyway. I can wedge the Oztent RV3 under it no worries and there's room for the Rhino bike carrier. If I wanted to carry something bigger I just have to put some spacers under the cross bars and use longer clamps. Easy.

I've recently re-painted the whole car and applied the protection to it. I've also got a magnetic door protection from http://dentgoalie.com to use it in parking lots. I've never used such things before, but it should be great, I guess

Nice! Did you keep the original colour? Plus did you put a heap of rust protection in the rear end I.e where the tailgate seal goes? The magnetic door protection thing sounds new. Hope it works well :lol:

With all the talk on the general thread re cracks in tyres and how old before replacing I chucked the BFG M/Ts back on my rig today. Took the BFG A/Ts off. They went on in July 2012 and have done about 80K.

I took the intercooler off (1kzte) and cleaned the throttle body/butterfly flap, it was minging!

I can't say I notice a difference yet though.

The intercooler itself looks to have a similar gunge, although air going through, I'm wondering the best way to clean?

Petrol bath and compressor?

Picked up some manifold gaskets (just in case ) as that's coming off for a good clean and got some new glow plugs to put in.

Just got to find a good source for injectors now before the weekend .
