    • I like your girls bushbasher

I spent the last week (nights) replacing all suspension bushes and installing ome suspension with the 80 series shock
cheers AJ for your thread I've done the same
and Amts for pointing me to amayama for affordable parts

All up not to bad to do I hadn't played with the suspension on a car before
The worst for me was the front upper control arm bushes, getting them out was a complete pain in the arse!
The rest were straight forward enough just finding the right size sockets extra to push them out was the hardest part.
finished yesterday car drives a lot better now.

        • Packed for Fraser ( made me realise that with 3 kids I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a decent off-road trailer.

Also finished off my hi-tech, space age, Oz tent carrier.

Never been happy with just having it sit on my cross bars or on top of my roof basket, even though the rep said it would be fine. New suspension, injectors and drawers this year mean I've got no money for a platform. This is the next best thing...

          So off to Bunnings:
          1x5m decking plank
          8x gal M10 bolts & nuts
          16x washers
          4x mending plates
~$40 and one long neck later:

Since I took the photo I've added a couple of extra holes so it fits on the cross bars or on top of the basket.

          • Just completed the quickest mod since the Hilux washer jets.
And that was the AMTS transmision shift repair kit install.
It was difficult to select L on the four speed auto but with the kit fitted its back to better than new!
Do yourself a favour grab one from AMTS in the for sale forum and fit it quick smart.
You ain't going anywhere if you can't get a gear.

How did you clean the seals out? Did you remove all the grease and replace? if so which grease did you use?
Also, very very very nice Cobra, is that from a kit? I hope one day to have something like that, when i'm not paying 6 rego's that is...
              Cheers,

The biggest improvement i think is the doors, nice spread at night with them open

I just used soapy water and a cloth to remove all the red dust. The grease is still there and quite clean. Let it dry in the sun and put back on.

I have the Cobra for sale:

Given a past photo on here maybe an mlc rear should have been first?

I would be a happy man if my rear still looked that good........

                            • Had the front wheel bearings replaced at 150790 km.
The right hand side had a bit of movement in it when I changed the rotors last week end.
A bit pissed as I had the vehicle serviced on the Friday and nothing was mentioned, took it in on the Monday to have my suspicions confirmed.
Ordered the parts : Bearing, Seal and O-ring per side. Original service dealer could not slot the vehicle in to perform the work, so contacted the service manager of another dealer whom was able to book it in to have one of their master technicians tackle the job.
I also mentioned that the "replace brake fluid" that was requested at the service did not seem to translate to the brake system being bled from the calipers.
I checked when doing the rotors and noted that the bleed nipple covers had not been taken of and the nipples had not seen any action by way of spanner!
The Master Tech reported that the right hand bearing was shot and had rusty moisture within. The left side was in better shape with only a small drop of moisture.
He also concured that the bleeder nipples on the calipers were ultra tight, therefore had not been adjusted recently.
The brakes feel loads better, the pedal has more resistance on the first pump. What I would expect from new Bendix and DBA T3,s
I will take some pictures of the bearings, though they ended up in many bits due to being a challenging job.
                              Cheers
