BTW that's a lot of weights on that spare. Are they all like that?
The wheel nuts are the right ones.
I have the same wheels that i use for off road and have had them for around 2-3 years with no problems.
Looks like they might not of been put back on properly ?

Also, tried greasing the driveshaft at all grease nipple points. However, some of the nipples are blocked. Any tips on how to clean these while they are still attached? Looks like a tricky job to remove them to clean them or is that my only option?
That is the fuel cooler. It cools the fuel after it leaves the fuel rail on the engine - not all fuel pumped to the engine is consumed, some returns to the tank. It gets heated during its pass through the injection fuel lines, pumps, etc so this device cools it prior to going back into the tank. It's not unusal to see fuel temperature at over 50 degrees c on the Techstream.

I simply wipe the nipples with a rag on the end of a screwdriver or similar. Have to roll the car slightly to get the tail shafts to rotate in order to get to all the nipples.

      • You could try greasing the blocked ones after you've been driving while the uni's are still warm and hopefully the grease is a bit softer or maybe something like this if you can get it on the nipples

Use one on the bobcat at work when they get blocked and works in most situations. Good quality grease gun helps to.

        • I was under the impression that you had to remove the fittings to use a nipple clearing tool. Is it fine to load it up with the grease you'll be pumping in via the gun in the clearing tool and do it with the fittings in place?

I personally don't see a problem doing it on the car with the grease out of the gun if there only lightly blocked. Your only trying to get the ball back so you can pump fresh stuff in. Couple of light taps. If you know there badly blocked I'd be removing them and doing it on a bench.

              • Drove it home after another successful trip! 46 degrees for the last few hundred km's, towing the camper into a howling head wind and it never missed a beat even with the aircon going flat out!

Guess I am spending a bit of time in the next few days cleaning it! I might have got a little but of mud and dirt on it in the last week or so

                Cheers Andrew

It felt like we were in a fire when we got out, fortunately we dodged all the fires on the way home.

                        • Club Capricorn at Yanchep. We've been going there the last three years at Xmas time. close enough for me to come back to work a couple of times. its a good spot, great beaches and the sea breeze always comes in earlier so its not as hot as Perth. just got home and the wife successfully drove with the trailer the whole way so that's another notch on her belt. now just to empty all the stuff out of it.
                          Cheers
