    • Stuffed up the transmission in a big bog hole- that won't be cheap to fix thats for sure....
Thanks to Ando120Playdo for guiding me through flushing it, flushed 4 times now but I think the damage may be done. Its a bit better but still slipping a lot especially L/2. Low ratio seems a bit better. Worst is when stopping, its like driving a manual car up the lights and not using the clutch at all, just the break.

Could it be worth flushing some more? Is there a filter - I didn't change that.

Recondition / second hand transmission versus a rebuild ?

Oh I also flooded the interior with the same boggy muddy water, any tips for that - should I take the seats and carpets out and give it a good cleaning?

Lucky the winch worked - otherwise it would still be there !

      • Great - well tranny almost back to normal now after a full flush, cleaned pan, changed filter and flushed through10 litres via coolant pipes. Hot level still low but cold level above high mark Wtf? over . Hot level seems to be the one to work to.

Carpets all cleaned as is inside of car, it's never been this clean! Perhaps everyone should have fun in bog holes.

when going through bog hole & deep water like this what parts are susceptible to damage inside ??
where are the computers & other electric boxes located?
can you cover them with plastic bags to help ?

a few days of cleaning up after the fun is fine but causing electrical damage would be very expensive and troublesome

Plums : how is your alternator after that dunking? is yours a petrol or diesel (KZ or KD)

from what i've seen in my v6 120, the computers are located close to the dash area. some are on the floor behind the plastics and some are up in the dash.

            • The ECU is in the passenger's side footwell, near the door side, below the glovebox. It's a bit low for a computer.

                  I am curious about this!

How many litres do you use a week? What is your total fuel biil when you pay?

                  Thanks

Sexy! I want the rhino rack too but the one with the side edges only. What size rack did you get?

                      Alternator fine.
Agree ECU a bit low, but water wasnt quite that high inside, it was higher outside but the rate it was coming in luckily was not faster.
The motor under the seats seemd to Escape too (Grande Model)

I was disappointed (At Mt Disappointment) at how much water came into the cabin. where did it get in if all the grommets were in. The door seals dont seem to be the only source.

I am suspecting through the door cavities, either where the plastic trim is located or up through the drain holes in the door and out through the speakers etc...

all dooor electrics and speakers seem fine however.

Maybe I should go back - dunk it again and pay closer attention to the entyr points :-D

                      • The drainage holes is where the water gets in, then through the door trim and into the cabin. Probably a good idea to tape up the drainage holes to slow the flow down. Just don't forget to remove it after the trip.

                        • Put on new tyres today, very excited and just had to tell somebody! The GrandTreks were finally ready for retirement, so i decided to go with something a little more robust. The new BFG KO2s seem like a pretty good bet. We have our first big outback trip in July to Camerons Corner and down to the Flinders, so these should suit well... can't wait!
