Ordered custom leather!!!

As the title says, spoke with Blackman & Sons today and have arranged to get my new prado all decked out in "pewter" leather including all door trims, headrests and obviously the seats

Cant wait, like a little kid waiting for christmas morning. I have now seen 2 prado's with custom leather and 1 Hilux all done by Blackmans!

An awesome job from what I have seen. Bloody excited. Always wanted leather seats in a car.

Will post pictures after it is finished.

Make sure you get perforated leather in the centre of the seats. I've had 3 cars with factory leather and it's a 'different' experience.

Blackmans Leather is great, not like the cheap & nasty factory leather, the leather Blackman use is used in Ferrais, Aston Martins & other fine cars, not like the cheap plastic feeling japanese factory leathers sourced out of Korea & China.
I have had my Blackman leather interior for 3 years now & its only getting better with age, thick & supple, still has that leather smell

I had a car once that had that leather smell and it put me off ever owning another car with leather upholstery. Up here where the ambient temps regularly exceed 40C the interior of cars can get extremely hot the leather really starts to reek. The problem we found is that the leather smell would attach itself to us such that we had to have a shower each time we got home from running around town in the car.

Now I took a chance on the VX leather interior and I am happy to say I do not get that same god awful smell from the leather which makes me very happy indeed.

I saw a charcol GXL at Truscots in Sydney waiting to be picked up by it's new onwer with a black leather interior. Looked the goods. This was when the last 4WD Caravan and Camping show was on at Rosehill.

Once I can get the time to give them the car (really busy at work) I will post some pictures!

BLKMAV90, why do you suggest perforated leather in the centre of the seat? The reason I ask, is my mate has it and it looks great, but the Blackman manager suggested no if I had children?

I still have time to change the exact style. So far I have chosen DARK grey or "pewter" with gathering, "flat" leather.

Any further sugesstions?

Hi Rob, I have perforated leather in the centre section as well, makes the seat breath better & you dont sweat as much, looks better to (just my opinion) only problem with it with kids is when they spill drinks on it & it soaks through the holes into the seat, makes cleaning it harder, I would still get the perforated leather & do as I do, dont let the ferrals eat or drink in the car
Have you thought about getting 2 tone leather on the seats, on my wifes car I went with gray perforated on the centre section & black on the outside, looks the part with black duco.

i agree with you there mav, my wifes calais has leather interior and its a pain in the ar#e. My wife likes it but i find i'm constantly feeeling like i'm stuck to the seat, gimme canvas anyday.

blackmans leather.
it's hard to find a better product and workmanship.
i've seen approx 5 interiors they have done (none of them mine)
and the detail was good and fit was excellent.
you can only be happy with the job. enjoy

As promised here are some pictures: (although I wanted a darker leather to match the top of the door trim/centre console..... it should have been "cloud" and not "pewter") was my mistake, but in saying that it actually matches the lighter grey door/ A-pillar trims.

I absolutely love it, and a perfect job as expected from Paul and his team at Blackman and Sons in Sydney.
