    Hi guys,

First post here. Hello from SE-QLD!

Just doing some prado research... I'm looking at 90 and 120 series prados Can somebody tell me the expected fuel economy from the following engines, and which ones are known to crack heads/other major problems?

    2.7 L 3RZ - I know this one is bulletproof reliable.
    2.7 L 2TR-FE
    3.4 L 5VZ
    4.0 1GR-FE

    3.0 L 5L
    3.0 L 1KZ - I know these are notorious for cracking heads.
    3.0 1KD-FTV

Also, does the 90 series have the 180L total fuel capacity like the 120 series?

    Thanks!

    Welcome,

if you google pradopoint and then the question you want thats the best way as the search engine on pradopoint itself is rubbish.

1kd is the 2006+ diesel D4D motor, google injector problems. 1kz had much more cracked head issues in the 90 in comparison to the 120 and all the petrol motors are pretty thirsty but have a lot of power, are pretty much trouble free and also you can pick them up fairly cheap. I would go for the 4.0L petrol in the 120 or the 1kz in the 120 if you can get one cheap enough. 1kz fuel economy is worse than 1kd however much simpler motor and in my opinion its the pick of the bunch.

I would buy the 120 purely for the much comfier ride and more modern vehicle but the 90s are a very capable off roader as well.
