  • Hard to come by parts online...

After a few hard to come by bits online to save me getting ripped by Toyota directly.

I'm after the black rubber runner strips for the roof rack grooves, the black circle clips for the underside of the bonnet that keep the matting to the bonnet and a set of the little clips that are weak as piss that hold the front grille on.

Had a look on amayama and the like but to no avail. Anyone know of any other place that i could find these bits apart from a wreckers as all the clip tend to break when you try to remove them. Cheers

Have you priced the clips from Toyota ??? There not expensive. I have bought them for under bonnet of my old 90 also the ones under the guards for the plastic inner guards when I did the snorkel on old Prado plus bought some for the current 120 for when I do the snorkel. Can't remember exact cost but was minimal. As far as the strips go I doubt there would be an aftermarket one produced. Not really the type of thing some one would bother to reproduce (I may be wrong) I think wreckers or genuine would be your only way for the strips...... Cheers Steve

I've bought trim clips from Toyota and your gonna get ripped . Go to your local panelbeaters shop and ask them , I did , they buy in bulk usually and are happy to sell them to you , for a crap load less than Toyota will . Good luck .

Found this website which had everything I needed bar the rubber strip for the roof. http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Toy...eners_s/13.htm

Is there any reason why I shouldn't silicone the rubber strips down to the roof?

Great website rorza, The only reason I personally wouldn't silicone down would be a night mare to remove if needed. The other reason would be possible air pockets underneath it for water to get into then sit and not dry out causing rust. Just my opinion but I myself wouldn't do it to my car.....Cheers steve

My other concern is if there are areas that let in water up the top, which then wets the seatbelts, and they were quite damp, is the water being let out down the bottom or just pooling up potentially causing rust?

The only area up top to let water in would be where the roof rack mounts are (3 either side) which should be sealed up from the factory, these were a common point on the earlier 120's for leaking or unless some one has fitted a rack without using proper o rings other wise there should be no water entering the cabin...cheers Steve
