Hi I just bought some hid spot lights. The loom doesn't have the ordinary high beam plug in because they are hid. They have just two wires, red and black which go to the high beam somehow. Has anyone ever installed them and can give me some idea on how this loon works properly thanks

Sounds like you picked up the wrong signal wire on the back of the headlight. My 120 is the first vehicle I've owned that is negatively switched so when I installed my loom I did it like I Always did - hooked up to high beam. But when I did lights did the same thing as yours. Trial and error fixed it - I tapped into each of the three wires on the back of the headlight until I found the right one.
Give that a try, might save you some coin.

I just installed a pair of Narva HID's on a 150 last weekend. We used the Narva wiring loom (was not my 150 and I was not paying so it was easier for me to have the FIL buy the loom). Thie loom has a male plug that the original headlight plug goes into and then tees out to a female headlight plug and a second plug that goes back to the relay to trun the lights on and off. Nothing really different to normal spots. I was impressed by the way the got the high beam signal by using a small Y adapter as opposed to a scotch lock or soldering.
