I had some beautiful metallic blue and silver vinyl door trims out of a 1964 Falcon in my '66 Falcon and they were still like brand new after more than 40 years. Those cracks are totally unbelievable!

My wife has also got some vintage tupperware - with a lifetime guarantee - so when an old container lid split it was immediately replaced FREE.

We can sit and complain forever and a day and nothing will happen. Everyone needs to get on board. Send emails to [email protected] attention (Qld,Nsw etc)Producer and also contact racq regarding this obvious manufacture flaw. Ask to speak to Vito. Dont put it in the too hard basket.

I found this response on another forum..

I've sent Paul an email to at least satisfy my curiosity. It's clear the whole dash is floored in it's manufacture so the concept of repair I think is at best prolonging a losing battle.

I hadn't seriously entertained the though of contacting the mags - thought about it but I have to wonder who and how often they get into bed with manufactures including Toyota.

If it were me, that is the path I would be heading down. (have done it before with some success)
bear in mind though TMCA are well aware of their obligations under our countries laws regarding "statutory warranty"

There is a 100% likelihood that if any of you as individuals take action as suggested, that they will argue that the product was fit for purpose for twice the period of the original three year warranty, which itself was three times the length of the mandatory twelve month warranty. Being fit for purpose for six times the mandatory warranty period, means you will be pushing sh!# uphill to get a judgment in your favour.

I don't agree with it.. far from it... but from my experience, that is the likely outcome of pushing ahead with an individual statutory warranty claim.
I would be getting advise as to the efficacy of a group lodging complaints with the ACCC. Bear in mind, the ACCC may not want to know you until you have lodged a claim with your state dep't consumer affairs.
In my experience with a serious issue affecting thousands of Australians.... me included.... we only got the ACCC to act on our behalf when they were embarrassed into acting.

Good luck all.... and.... caveat I am not a lawyer. My comments are based on recent experience with a very dodgy company. I do not consider TMCA to be a very dodgy company. Oh.... my daughter is studying to become a lawyer, so maybe I am part lawyer by default :P

Gday,

I have a 2005 TD Prado which i purchased about a year ago. There were no signs of cracked dash when purchased and now it has a very large crack right across passenger side dash and a couple of small cracks above the the drivers side air-con vent. Very disappointed! Please add me to the list.

Count me in as a casualty, my 2005 GXL which has been my pride and joy for the last 145,000 klm has cracks opening up in most of the places mentioned. I have tried many places and nobody will touch it to fix. Skyfleet Toyota have taken the same stance and will not admit it is a problem.
