Cracked dashboard

You guys experiencing dash board cracking problems, has anyone setup a database with info containing year, model & vin no. This may help see a trend with which production dates have this problem. I know jap engineers like to see data that supports any particular fault. I have 2004 grande since new and don't have any cracks. If willing to supply data I will set up spreadsheet with info. Keep any photos of your dash cracks for reference. The more factual data available the better.

Castoy that's is a great idea! Considering yours isn't cracked I'm happy to do it saving you the time and trouble and I can take it to Toyota, ACCC etc until we have something done about it!

Email your year, VIN, name, state, engine type and condition of your dash with photos if possible. If you have been to Toyota maybe list the dealer you went to and Toyotas answer or even if you have had it fix how much it cost you out of your pocket because the more info the better!!!!

I will keep this going for a while to build up some details before I attack whoever with the facts!!!!!!

If you know of others that aren't on our website and care to put their names down please pass on my details and what I need so I can get the ball rolling.

Lets get this sorted as quick as possible..... The longer it goes on the harder it's going to be to get anything done.😉😉

Got an '04 petrol GXL... dash cracked to hell during the second wet season i was in darwin for (i was out of the country, car was locked away in undercover carport for 2 months) ...came back and the whole dash was cracked to hell... car lived it's life in SE QLD before i moved to darwin... i attribute the cracking due to some probably big temperature changes in my buildings carpark during the last wet season (hot day sudden downpour?) I only just got around to calling my local dealer about it... but they have requested i take the car in they will take photo's and send them off to toyota, they admitted there has been a fair few with issues... they also told me that it would ultimately be toyota that decide what to do. I do have a crack running across the passenger side airbag, so looking forward to hearing what they have to say about it. Alas, due to a busy work schedule, i'm not going to be able to take the car in to them for another 4-6 weeks i expect.

It's great to have read others experiences with regards to this so i'll endeavour to let you know of my dealings with toyota when they have had a chance to look at it.

I know I keep harping on but the more the better so please pass it along! I'm really over big companies who make billions of dollars and expect us to pay for a quality product have an issue with that said product and then do nothing about it, and considering it could be a safety issue that makes me angry!

Hey all just another update ( boring I know ) but I've emailed through to Toyota head office in USA, JAPAN and AUSSIE hoping it might get us somewhere so let's wait and see if they respond!

They eventually fixed the roo bar issue, (Too much wobble). Which was causing the guards to crack in my opinion? Lets hope they fix the dash issue.

I have given my 120 series to Toyota and its been in an out for 1 year since i bought it, i bought it second hand and there was a noise when under load over 90k and on a high way like the wheel is shaking.
they replaces all 4 bearings, problem still there changed diff problem still there now they are checking the tail shaft, at the same time i told them about my dash and they said i would have to pay half of what it will cost to fix and labor which worked out to be $1190 to replace the dash...

does anyone have a cheap quote i did see in these post a few had theirs done between $500 and $750 if you have the invoice from toyota is it possible to get a copy so i can show the.

I have the same issues on a 04 grande, large cracks around the passenger airbag area, any ideas how these can be fixed?

Arthur, the only way is dash pad replacement the same as every body else. 04 ?? doubt you will get any good will from Toyota on this one. Only way will be pay the $$ yourself I'm afraid.............Cheers Steve

TMC will replace (at some cost to you) but you have to complain.

Look for my name on previous posts and I think I detailed what I did for my 2003 model last Xmas. I went through their Sydney Office to get the Offer.

I will check what I posted and update here if I left stuff out.

The Thread no is 510.
TMC will replace the dash on those cars that are serviced by TMC on a regular basis and usually for free.

Older models and not serviced by TMC will need an argument and some hassling. BUT, they will come to the party. I was the fourth owner and it got replaced. Cost $800.

Read all the threads or at least 6 months worth as many people have had success.

Good to know. Mine is a 2004 and so far so good , hopefully I am one of the lucky ones. With the new dashboards , has anyone had them crack?
