Massari, depending on how bad it is as to wether a quick fix by one of those mobile blokes can make it look respectable or if extremely bad then a new dash pad would be the only way. Stick a dash mat on it and trade it. Some car yards wouldnt have a bloody clue as to known faults with vehicles. Yes you will get less for it but at least you get rid of it. Your not going to get your two grand back unless the vehicle is in exceptional condition and even then people wont appreciate you have just spent 2k on a replacement dash. If its just the dash that is the reason why your thinking of selling then get it fixed and keep it.....Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

Well I've just joined the list of cracked dash owners. Not one single crack any where, then boom 2 within a week. Ah well, was just a matter of time not if. I rang today to get new dash pad, only cause I know the blokes I can get for $900. My other mate worked for toyota and said not a hard job to do so I will be slipping him a few cartons (probably spirits more then likely) to help me rip the old one out and replace it.......Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. Beach my mate was only just saying today his 06 120 VX with 75k on it and like new (never seen a dirt rd) is going grey all around the airbag area on the passengers side....... Must be the reason we bought a new mazda this time round for the wife instead of another toyota. My next one wont be a toyota either.....Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

Hi all,
after giving up with trying to get toyota to take responsibility i have started using a product on the dash that i have been using on the boat, i cant confirm if it is actually making a difference, but i know that i has taken good care of the vinyl on the boat so im assuming its helping:
303 Marine Aerospace Protectant
make your own decisions on use, i havent had any issues though.
Cheers,
Scott.

Unusual AJ. Could have been a case of just drive it never service it then try and claim warranty when it shits itself. We have never had mazda before main reason was still made in Japan have better rear suspension, better warranty, 6 speed auto instead that CVT shit transmissions there using now in Corolla. 3 transmission specialist told us to keep clear of them there all shit. VW, Honda, Nissan have troubles with them and only just started in Corolla so havnt proven them
selves yet. And the aircon in the mazda freezes your ass off. Only thing I don't like Is that new i stop, for the couple of $$$ it would save I turn it off save the starter motor in the long run I reckon. Fantastic on fuel better then my wife's Toyota Yaris sedan was. Sitting on 7.6 L per 100 round town, 5.4 freeway driving up the coast n back. We'll see but so far so good only done 2thou so far thou lol..... Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

I guess my point was that every vehicle ever manufactured has its weak points, and every manufacturer squibs on claims people think they should pay for. I know some people who bought a brand new statesman a few years ago, their dream car, every time you close the passenger door the interior trim falls off. They have had it in for warranty so many times they have finally given up and just accept that's life.
I could tell similar stories about a few other brands as well, I wonder how many of those owners are saying to them selves that's the last time I will buy one of them, I am getting a Toyota next time!

Re: Cracked Dashboard
I have a 2004 Prado VX that has never been off road and has been garaged out of the sun and its heat both at home and at work. The arch over the driver's instrument panel has a fine crack concealed from view by the steering wheel. The car has been serviced since new by the Toyota dealer I bought it from. Toyota has declined my claim that they should fix the problem at no charge to me. I am told that they have been repairing the problem where it arose within the 10 years after the date of sale. I notified them at the the ten year mark plus or minus a month!!!! They certainly did not check for the problem on a service or else they just stayed silent!
I am thinking of taking legal action. Would anyone care to join me in suing Toyota for the cost of repairs?
We might start a "class action" i there is strong enough demand!
Let me know please.
