    • Hi bud, mine's getting done by Motorama Toyota at Hillcrest Bisbane. It's not as bad as others out there but they are still replacing it. Good luck with yours

        • I'm a bit concerned with this TMC change of heart. I'm an owner of the last batch of 120 GXL TDs - my dash is like new ATM.
Will there be any spares left if mine eventually cracks in 2019? :-(

          • I have a 2003 model - tried with Southside Toyota at Woolloongabba where it has brought and always serviced - same response - 10 year cut off by Toyota - offered to replace the dash for $1540.00!

                  • So I got knocked back again by a dealer that is known to have replaced dash boards over 10 years old. I asked them to raise an appeal with Toyota and I got this reply

                    "Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the late reply, I have been doing some investigating into this for you, and unfortunately there is nothing else we can do for you on our end, but you as a guest of Toyota can contact Toyota Australia on 1800 869 682 and let them know what has happened to your vehicle and try to raise an appeal.

Sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused for you.

                    Hope all works out,
                    Kind regards,"

                    bloody dead ends

                    anyone having any luck?
                    Andrew

                      • I'm new to this forum and I thought I had some luck with Toyota in replacing my dashboard I have a 2005 Prado first registered on 19/08/2005 thought being the word but anyway this is my story and I'll try to make it as short as possible

I wrote a email to Toyota explaining the cracks in my dashboard not sure when it was sent but got a reply on 8 February then only a couple days after that went down to My local Toyota dealer as instructed by the email. when I got down there they took pictures of my Dash and numberplate I Think they typed my number plate into the computer which then bought up my Vin number then they looked on a piece of paper and said your Vin number is here so we can replace your dash for free and then they said when would you like to book it in and I said as soon as possible then they looked on the computer and said they do not have any dashboards they would have to order one in from Japan which will take about six weeks so then I said okay they then booked my car in for the 5th of April and why they were doing that they said are you aware there is a recall on the towbar would you like to get that done at the same time and I said yes so then they booked me in for both things so then fast forward to 6 weeks down the track ring them up the day before my car is due to be done just to make sure everything is there and there reply was yes every think is here see you at 8 o'clock Tuesday so I turn up on Tuesday to get both things done they once again talk a picture of my numberplate then they said just have to make sure everything is here which I thought was a little bit odd considering I ring up the day before to make sure everything was there they were gone for about two minutes then they came to me and said we cannot do your dashboard but we will do your towbar and I said why is that and then they said because your car is not covered under warranty then I said but you checked mine vin number and you said you could do it then they responded it is out of warranty and it didn't matter what I said that's all they said which is pretty funny because I know for a fact they did a 2003 model Prado on the 21 March The week before mine so why would they give him a new Dashboard but not me especially since mine is a younger car 2005 don't get me wrong I'm happy that he's gotten his new dash though. But anyway came home that morning rang Toyota Australia up and then they said basically the same it is out of warranty but once we explained it was approved and they had ordered the dashboard in to be done and we rang the day before to confirm everything they said that is not right they should have done it and they would investigate why they would not do it. No one ended up ringing me back cannot say I'm not surprised so rang them up on Monday and basically the only stuff they told me was Toyota is starting to really clampdown on the 10 year thing and the only thing I can do is appeal the decision ....... so my question is like everyone else is why are they approve 2003 model but not 2005 model on the grounds that it is out of warranty. There is no consistency they just pick and choose whatever cars they want to do by the looks of it

                          • Mate their full of shit and can't give you an answer. As my previous post all he said to me was 'sir can't pass on that information' WTF, I said I don't want THEIR info I want you to stop bullshitting me and give me a fair dinkum response. Then he comes up with your out of your 3 year warranty period. Again WTF are you on about. He then rang the dealership I'd been to, to see why they knocked it back, I said they didn't YOU did why bother ringing them. Anyways puts me on hold comes back to me, they said because it's out of its 3 year warranty period. I had to hang up as I was about to tell him to go fu## himself. Bought the wife a new Mazda 3 over a new corolla sx. I wouldn't care if they put a stop to all of them over ten years old BUT why are some people STILL getting theirs done while others can't !!! Now their Toyota Aurions are having dash board issues with dash pad material literally breaking away from the foam or what ever is under the material and their going soft and sticky, my mate just had his 07 replaced.

                            • If it is out of the 3 year warranty, then why are all the 2006 dashes being replaced then, Mr Toyota?

                              • Forgot to mention I did try about two years ago to get it replaced as well When it would have been under this 10 year thing And the response was never heard of the Prado dashboard cracking before and didn't wanna know about it ......... The thing is when the time comes no one will want to buy or trade a car with a cracked dashboard so our cars are basically worthless and I've tried telling Toyota this and I didn't wanna know about me
