is there any way to prevent mud/water entering the engine compartment via front grill when off-roading? and if you get the mud inside eventually what is the best way to clean/remove it?

a light pressure clean with some degreaser works for most.2003 V6 GXL, Mickey Thompson MTZ's, Safari Snorkel, ARB Winch Bar, OME Suspension 2" lift, GME TX3420 -
would you spray the engine with some wd40 or something after cleaining? any specific areas to be extra cautious with?
by the way, I couldn't believe when I saw my buddy's LR Diso3 after we both completed the very same muddy track this weekend, his engine was spanking clean, while mine was just full of mud...2003 LC4 D-4D AUTComment

WD40, being oil based, will more than likely attract dust and it will turn into a dune colour that would take longer to get rid of later :shock: :shock:
. The degreaser should work well as mentioned.
Or you could slow down before hitting the mud - but that would take the fun out of it I suppose.

Hi Desmond,
Unlike the Patrols with their Rigid front axle assembly which stay pretty clean under the bonnet, these IFS vehicles have crap flying up everywhere due to the layout of the IFS all you can do is check all the underfender guards are in place and do as the gang suggest wash it.
My last IFS was a forerunner 2.4T before my rigid axle housing trucks and I washed the engine every second time I washed the truck but take care to gladwrap the A/C compressor pulley and clutch assembly as constant drowning stuffs the centre bearing.
