Hi,
Our D4D Prado is barely a year old but has an intermittent fault. The day after we took delivery of it, we returned it to the dealer as the floor on the front passenger side was getting wet with air conditioning condensate. The dealer's people couldn't really find anything wrong with it but thought the condensate rubber hose was routed incorrectly.
We didn't notice anymore leaks for about 11 months and then we found the floor well and truly saturated. The padding under the carpet took a couple of weeks to dry out. It is inconvenient to take it to the dealer so I put a hose clamp on the condensate hose where it comes out of the a/c unit. There were no leaks for 3 to 4 weeks but it is leaking badly today again.
I took the cover off underneath the glovebox again and found the condensate was not leaking out of the hose connection but out of the bottom of the left-hand side of the a/c unit and dripping onto the hose and thence onto the floor. I thought there might be a blockage in the hose or where the hose pushes onto the a/c and this was causing the condensate to back up before leaking out of the side of the a/c unit. But, in the end, I could not find any problems. The strange thing about it was when I put the hose back on and started up the car, the leak had vanished.
Has anyone had this problem and, if so, what was the solution, please?
Regards
Glenn
